A
highly trained 911 Operator will
answer the Phone..."911,
What is your emergency?"
Remember
to try and remain calm and speak
clearly.
If
you dial 9-1-1 by mistake....DO
NOT HANG UP tell the 911 operator
you dialed 911 by mistake and
wait for them to tell you it's ok
to hang up the phone. If you hang
up the phone without speaking to
the 911 operator, they do not
know if you are ok and will have
to send the appropriate law
enforcement to your location to
follow up and make sure
everything is ok.
The
911 Operator will ask you several
questions for example:
- What is the
Emergency?
- What is the
location of the
emergency?
- Are you hurt?
- Are you in a
safe place?
- Where are you
calling from?
- What is your
name, Address?
- What is your
phone number?
|
If
you are not sure if your
situation is an emergency dial
9-1-1 and if necessary the 911
Operator will direct you to dial
the local non-emergency phone
number so the 911 line is open
for other emergencies that occur.
If you have any
questions on how to use 9-1-1
that were not answered online
please contact your local 9-1-1
coordinator.
